Diane Di Prima is an American poet. Her writings include This Kind of Bird Flies Backward, Dinners and Nightmares, Seven Love Poems from the Middle Latin, Poems for Freddie, Memoirs of a Beatnik, The Book of Hours, Selected Poems: 1956-1975, Loba, Part II, Revolutionary Letters, City Lights, Pieces of a Song: Selected Poems, and Recollections of My Life as a Woman The New York Years.
Diane Di Prima was born on August 6 in 1934 in Brooklyn in New York. She attended in Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She moved to New York to be part of the Beat Movement. In the 1960s, she moved to California where she has lived ever since. She has five children. She has studied Buddhism, Sanskrit, Gnosticism and alchemy. She has also worked as a memoirist, playwright, social justice activist, and teacher.
