Deepti Naval (born 3 February 1957) is a critically-acclaimed Indian actress, painter and author. She has been seen in over 75 Hindi films, and mostly worked in parallel cinema.
Deepti was born in Amritsar, Punjab, and she studied at the City University of New York. She did her Bachelor\'s degree in Fine Arts at Hunter College in Manhattan.
The actress has penned a collection of short stories titled The Mad Tibetan. The book is deeply drawn from her personal experiences and each story begins with one of Deepti\'s paintings. The 11 stories in the collection showcase instances of modern-day misfortunes, with characters being radical, often tragic, and looking for answers for the questions thrown at by life.
