Amjad Islam Amjad was born on August 4, 1944 in Lahore, Pakistan. An acclaimed Urdu poet, playwright and lyricist, Amjad has many books to his credit that also include poetry and prose. He undertook his secondary education from Lahore, and graduated from the Government Islamia College at Civil Lines, Lahore. Amjad went on to complete his Masters in Urdu literature from the Punjab University. He has written essays, contributed to columns, translated and criticized literary works. However, his dominant writing includes his unique Nazms. A playwright with his distinct style, some of his popular plays include the Waris, Dehleez, Samandar, Raat, Waqt and Apnay Loug. His published writing work consist of Fishar, Barzakh, Us par, Satwan dar, Zara phir say kehna, Seher aasar, Barish ke aawaz, Itnay khwab kahan rakhoon, Mairay bhe hain kuch khwab and Hum us kay hain.
