Abha Dawesar has written four critically acclaimed novels: Family Values, That Summer in Paris, Babyji and Miniplanner. She is a proud recipient of numerous honors including the prestigious American Library Association\'s Stonewall Award as well as a Lambda Literary Award.

Abha Dawesar was born in New Delhi. She graduated with honors in political philosophy from Harvard University and now lives in New York and is a full-time writer.

In 1995, Abha Dawesar moved to New York and served a global financial services industry for 8 years. She was awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts fiction fellowship in 2000.

The book Babyji was received very well and named one of the 10 best books of fiction for 2005 by the Boston Phoenix. It was reviewed nationally and internationally in the US media, India, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Dawesar has been interviewed extensively on radio and television in the USA, France, and India.

Dawesar has also been invited on various occasions to read, speak and conduct seminars in various cities in the U.S., Europe, and India including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, Ann Arbor, New York, Paris, London, York, New Delhi, Chandigarh and Bangalore.

Describing how she sketches and chooses the characters in her book, Abha Dawesar said in an interview, "I think the novels select me. If cognition, free will, and decision-making are kind of mysterious to neuroscience then creativity is even more unexplained. There is a time when ideas and characters float formlessly and as the idea develops it grips me and I take it ahead. While writing Babyji and Miniplanner the main characters caught my attention. While I was working on my third all the characters were clear to me instantly. I would say that the process is natural and organic.”
