Multi-talented Pritish Nandy is a poet, journalist, politician, television personality and film producer in Bollywood. Pritish Nandy started his career as a poet and published his first collection in 1967. He was also nominated as a Poet Laureate in 1981. In 1982, Pritish Nandy joined Times of India as a publishing director (1982 to 1991) and as editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India (1983 to 1991).
On the political front, Pritish was elected to the Rajya Sabha on a Shiv Sena seat in 1998. In 1995, Pritish Nandy ventured into film production and started his own production house by the name of Pritish Nandy Communications. The company’s debut production was the Pritish Nandy Show which aired on Doordarshan. Some of the Bollywood films that his company has produced are Khwahish, Sur: The Melody of Life, Jhankaar Beats, Shabd, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Just Married and Ugly Aur Pagli.
Some of the Awards Pritish Nandy has won are National Science Talent Scholar Award, Homi Bhabha Fellowship, Outstanding Citizen Award, Vijaya Ratna, Priyadarshini Award and Karmaveer Puraskar Nobel Laureates amongst many others.
