Hema Malini Biography of Hema Malini : Hema Malini is one of the most successful and respected actresses of Indian cinema. She made her first attempt to enter Bollywood in 1964 but was told that she has no star appeal. Who would have thought that years later the same girl would be dubbed as Bollywoods dream girl. Her films were among the most successful films of the 70s and 80s better known as the golden era of Bollywood. Some of her most famous movies are Sholay, Satte Pe Saata, Sita Aur Gita, and The Burning Train among others. She made her directorial debut with Dil Aashna Hai in 1992. After a long absence from the silver screen she returned in 2003 with the extremely successful Baghban opposite Amitabh Bachchan and in the 2004 blockbuster Veer-Zara. She also judged some television dance shows. Though many asked for her hand in marriage, she married Dharmendra, a famous Bollywood actor. She joined politics in 2004 with the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Presently, she is an elected member to the Rajya Sabha. She has won many awards for her performances in a number of movies. But a rather notable award is the Padmashri which is the fourth highest civilian honor given by the Government of India. Her daughter Esha Deol has also followed her footsteps and made a career in Bollywood.
