Faridoon Shahryar has written and sung over 100 jingles for FM Radio and Television (Dabur Honey, Coca Cola (Composed by Shantanu Moitra) in India as well as abroad (Sunrise Radio, UK). He has taken formal training in Hindustani Classical music and is influenced by both Western as well Indian music forms. Faridoon is a trained journalist (Times School Of Journalism) and has written for Sunday Times Of India, The Hindustan Times, The Asian Age (Worked for 1 year), Filmfare, Mid Day, The Indian Express, Free Press Journal etc. He is also a published poet in English in poetry anthologies in India, UK, USA, Japan etc. Faridoon has been heading the Broadband (videos) section of the number one entertainment portal bollywoodhungama.com since the last six years and is a known face as an anchor for a popular Chat Show Talking Films where the biggest of stars like Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan etc. are featured on a regular basis.
Music has always been a passion for Faridoon and now he has been exploring the wider meaning and depth of his father late Professor Shahryar’s poetry (Jnanpith Award winning Urdu Poet and lyricist of Muzaffar Ali’s Umrao Jaan) by putting it to music. His long time friend Navneet Kedar has been composing some fine melodies with an emphasis on a free flowing pattern rather than getting bound by the conventional structures and musical pieces. The aim is to appeal to a dedicated section of listeners who value poetry and seriousness in their choice of music.
