Sweta Srivastava Vikram Biography of Sweta Srivastava Vikram :
Sweta Srivastava Vikram is a novelist, author, essayist, columnist, educator and blogger. Vikram was born in India, but spent most of her early years between Rourkela, Africa, Mussoorie, and Pune before calling New York her home.

Sweta has also written two chapbooks of poetry, Because All Is Not Lost and Kaleidoscope: An Asian Journey of Colors. Her work Kaleidoscope: An Asian Journey of Colors was received very well and was also nominated for the Pushcart Prize in 2010. Along with the chap books, she has also co-authored Whispering Woes of Ganges & Zambezi and Not All Birds Sing. Not All Birds Sing was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in 2011.

Her first fiction novel, Perfectly Untraditional, was released in April 2011. The story traces the life of New York City-based writer, Shaili Kapoor, who after her mother’s suicide is forced to see her father and sister Tanisha in an entirely different light.

Sweta’s poems, essays, fiction stories, and book reviews have appeared in many literary journals, online publications, and anthologies across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, New Zealand, and Philippines. She has also been awarded a part scholarship by Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation in San Francisco. Sweta has also worked on collaborative projects with artists from around the globe. She is seen at poetry and prose readings across the United States, Asia, and Europe and as a panelist at literary festivals in Europe and America. Sweta also takes an active part in tutoring at creative writing workshops.

Sweta also consults with Siyahi, India’s first literary agency. While her first love is the written word, spoken ones come a close second. Before beginning her career as a writer Sweta was a Radio Jockey with RBC Radio in New York. A graduate of Columbia University, Sweta now lives in New York City. She is working on fiction novel and full-length poetry book.
