Sharada Balasubramanian is an Indian writer, an environmental journalist and a blogger. She has been writing since she was a teenager. Her first published piece of writing was for MSN India. She has written for The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) TerraGreen, Tehelka, The Hindu Business Line, Outlook Business, Orange County resorts and The India Tube among other others. She has written on diverse topics such as alternative energy, rural markets, emerging technologies, wildlife, travel and fiction. In 2008, she was selected as one of the two journalists who interacted with General Authority for Free Zones and Investments (GAFI), part of the Egyptian Ministry. She has also translated stories for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBS).
Sharada’s short stories have been published in anthologies such as Ripples, Chicken Soup for the Soul and Urban Shots. She also conducts writing workshops and enjoys reading the works of Ruskin Bond, Orhan Pamuk and RK Narayan.
