Richmal Crompton was a British writer. She is most famous for her books from the Just William series. Some of her other writings include Enter - Patricia, Jimmy, Jimmy Again, Jimmy the Third, The Innermost Room, The Hidden Light, Anne Morrison, The Wildings, Dave Wilding, The House, Kathleen and I, and, of Course, Veronica; Millicent Dorrington, A Monstrous Regiment, Leadon Hill, The Thorn Bush, The Middle Things, Felicity Stands By, Sugar and Spice and Other Stories, The Four Graces, Abbot’s End, Ladies First, Steffan Green, Portrait of a Family, The Holiday, Marriage of Hermione, The Holiday, Chedsy Place, Quartet, Steffan Green, Merlin Bay, Narcissa, The Inheritor, Blind Man’s Buff, and Frost at Morning among many others.

Crompton was born at Bury in Lancashire in the U.K. She attended St. Elphin\'s Boarding School and the Royal Holloway College in London on a scholarship. She received a BA Honours degree in Classics. She started her career as a teacher and wrote alongside.  She died in 1969.
