Raghuvir Sahay was an extremely versatile Hindi writer who has contributed a great deal towards Hindi poetry, short-stories, essays, literary criticisms, translations, and journalism. He has worked as the chief-editor of the noted Hindi weekly, Dinmaan, between 1969 and 1982.
He was awarded the 1984 Sahitya Akademi Award in Hindi for his poetry collection, Log Bhool Gaye Hain (They Have Forgotten). His other appreciated works are titled Atmahatya Ke Viruddh, Hanso Hanso Jaldi Hanso and Seedhiyon Par Dhoop Mein.
Sahay advocated the use of a language that promoted Hindustani, the Hindi-Urdu synthesis. Sahay also belonged to a tradition of literature that looks forward for inspiration. He chose to express himself in the voice of democracy and scientific temper.
