Nutan Pandit is a natural birth expert and has authored many books on the subject. She believes: If nature has gifted fertility to women, it has also gifted the power of birthing. All women should have faith in their body’s ability to birth a baby. She has authored a bestselling book titled Pregnancy, which has also been translated into Hindi and Gujarati. The book sold more than 85,500 copies.

Nutan Pandit studied Sociology from Mumbai University. She then completed a Diploma in Journalism, and was freelancing for various magazines. She then moved to teaching natural childbirth classes in 1978, after undergoing two painless deliveries.

 Pandit pioneered natural childbirth in India. From 1981 onwards she also visited and trained with the National Childbirth Trust in London. Also, during these years she began teaching natural childbirth at Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi. Currently she takes classes at Fortis La Femme in New Delhi.

The book Pregnancy tells expectant mothers to not see child birth as a painful process. The book also makes women understand what changes are taking place in their bodies, and what to do when minor discomfort arises, including chapters on proper diet, exercising, labour and post natal care.

Her second book Questions & Answers on Pregnancy speaks about the phase of preconception, postnatal depression, breastfeeding and medicine relevant to childbirth. She has also written Smart Parenting: A Guide For Parents and Pregnancy:What The Indian Woman Always Wanted To Know But Was Afraid To Ask.

Nutan Pandit has trained more than 3,000 women for natural childbirth. She has been featured on numerous, TV programmes, on TV Channels like Home TV, Star, Zee, NDTV and DD News channel.
