Neil Patrick Jordan is a popular Irish filmmaker and author. He has bagged an Academy Award (Best Original Screenplay) for the movie The Crying Game. He also won the Silver Bear (Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival) for his movie The Butcher Boy. His novels too demonstrate a brilliant visual appeal.
Jordan studied at St. Paul\'s College, Raheny. He once commented: "I was brought up a Catholic and was quite religious at one stage in my life, when I was young. But it left me with no scars whatever; it just sort of vanished."
He believes that "God is the greatest imaginary being of all time. Along with Einstein\'s General Theory of Relativity, the invention of God is probably the greatest creation of human thought."
Later, Jordan studied at the University College Dublin, specializing in Irish History and English Literature.
The titles of his books include Night in Tunisia (Short stories), The Past (1980), The Dream of a Beast (1983), Sunrise with Sea Monster (1994), Shade (2005) and Mistaken (2011).
In \'Night in Tunisia\', the title story of the short story anthology, he speaks about the coming of age story of a teenage boy that he weaves with beautiful word play. His choice of words allows you to conjure up the images along with taking the story ahead at the same time.
Jordan lives in a house on Sorrento Terrace in Dalkey, Dún Laoghaire in Ireland.
