Mona Simpson is an American novelist and the biological sister of Steve Jobs.

Mona Simpson has penned novels, like Anywhere But Here, The Lost Mother, The Lost Father, Off Keck Road and My Hollywood. Simpson has been writing since her high school days. And in order to make ends meet and survive as a poet and writer, Simpson took up several jobs. However, once she got her book published, her finances became much easier.

Novelist Simpson interestingly never knew till she was an adult that the late Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Inc. was her biological brother. As infants, they were dispatched to separate sets of parents. It didn\'t become clear, not even to them until they were adults, that Jobs, who essentially led us all to the computer systems known and used today, and Simpson, a literary stylist, were actually brother and sister.

Later, Simpson vaguely inspired by her connection to her brother, wrote A Regular Guy.
Mona Simpson was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and then moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. Her father was an immigrant from Syria and her mother was the daughter of a mink farmer. Mona Simpson went to Berkeley to study poetry. She worked as a journalist before moving to New York to attend Columbia’s MFA program. While she was graduating, she published her short stories in Ploughshares, The Iowa Review and Mademoiselle.

Her work has been awarded many times; having bagged Whiting Prize, Guggenheim, Lila Wallace Readers Digest Prize and Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Mona was married to the television writer and producer Richard Appel and they have two children. She lives in Santa Monica with her family and Bartelby, her dog.
