Melissa Jane Nathan was a British journalist and a writer from the chick lit genre. Her writings include Pride, Prejudice and Jasmin Field, Persuading Annie, The Nanny, The Waitress, Kiss me Kate, The Learning Curve, and Acting up. She was diagnosed of breast cancer in 2001 while she was writing Persuading Jane. She was born in Hertfordshire. She attended Haberdashers\' Aske\'s school for girls, Elstree, the Polytechnic of Wales in Pontypridd where she studied Communications Studies, and Cardiff University where she completed a Post Graduate Degree in Journalism. She began her career as a journalist.
Melissa Nathan died in 2006 and she is survived by her husband, Andrew Saffron and their son, Sam.
