Marsha Hunt is an American writer, model, singer, and actress. Her writings include Undefeated, Real Life: The Story of a Survivor, Repossessing Ernestine: A Granddaughter Uncovers the Secret History of Her American Family, Joy, Like Venus Fading, and Free. She was born in Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Berkeley and shifted to the U.K. and lived in Edinburgh for a while. Later she has worked as a writer-in-residence at Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison in Ireland. Here she collected the stories of the inmates and edited The Junk Yard: Voices from an Irish Prison.
Marsha Hunt has been married to Mike Ratledge of the Soft Machine, a progressive rock band. She has been a breast-cancer survivor. She is currently writing a book on Jimi Hendrix.
