Lisa Appignanesi is a British writer. She has written several books which include Memory and Desire, Mad, Bad and Sad: Women and the Mind Doctors, Losing the Dead, The Memory Man, The Language of Trust, Proust, Musil and Henry James: Femininity and the Creative Imagination, The Cabaret, The Rushdie File, Freud\'s Women, Dreams of Innocence, A Good Woman, The Things we do for Love, The Dead of Winter, Sanctuary, Paris Requiem, Kicking Fifty, Unholy Loves, Simone De Beauvoir, and All about Love: Anatomy of an Unruly Emotion.

Lisa Appignanesi was born in Poland. She grew up in Paris and Montreal. She attended McGill University at Montreal where she completed a BA and an MA. She worked as an Editor for The McGill Daily. She completed a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Sussex in the UK. In 1987, she was made Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and in 2013, she was made Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). She has also won several awards such as the Scott Moncrieff Prize among others.
