At one point, there’s a frantic effort to keep this guy alive in the aid station, and they’re performing CPR on him. And basically every time they push on his chest, pieces of him drop to the floor. David Finkel is best known for his writings on the American efforts on democracy in Yemen and he won the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting on the same in 2006. His book, The Good Soldiers was stated as a ‘Best Book’ by the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Slate.com, and The Boston Globe. He worked as an embedded journalist in Baghdad, Iraq, which formed the basis of the The Good Soldiers. He worked with the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, also referred to as ‘2-16 Rangers’ while working on this book.

David Finkel is a journalist and currently works as a staff reporter for the Washington Post.  He earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Florida.
