We remember Dale Carnegie as a maker of motivation courses on interpersonal skills, salesmanship, self-development, soft skills and public speaking. The American writer grew up in poverty, went on write bestsellers that are read even today, including: Lincoln the Unknown (1932), How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (1948) and How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936).

Despite the monetary limitations, Carnegie studied at State Teacher\'s College, Warrensburg. Post college, he sold correspondence courses, moved on to selling bacon, lard and soap. His success led him to quit sales in 1911. After a disastrous brief career as an actor and near bankruptcy, Carnegie offered to take public speaking classes at YMCA, New York. Things started turning when the Dale Carnegie course made its 1912 debut, and by 1914 he was earning today\'s equivalent of $10,000 per week.

Out of all his books, How to Win Friends and Influence People had sold 6 million copies in 31 languages, by the time of Carnegie\'s death. The writer married twice, the first marriage ended in 1931. In 1944 he married Dorothy Vanderpool, who had also seen a divorce before. Carnegie died at Forest Hills, New York.
