Barbara Pym was an English writer. Her writings include No Fond Return of Love, Some Tame Gazelle, Excellent Women, Jane and Prudence, Less Than Angels, A Glass of Blessings, Quartet in Autumn, The Sweet Dove Died, A Few Green Leaves, Crampton Hodnet, An Unsuitable Attachment, An Academic Question, and Civil to Strangers. She was born in Oswestry, Shropshire in England. She attended Queen’s Park School, Huyton College, and the University of Oxford (St Hilda\'s College). During World War Two, she served in the Women\'s Royal Naval Service and later she worked at the International African Institute in London. Despite her talent, she did not make enough headway with her books until famous British writer and poet, Lord David Cecil and Philip Larkin, nominated her as ‘the most underrated writer of the 20th century’. Today her books are regarded as ‘popular and timeless’.
Barbara Pym died in 1980 due to breast cancer.
