Bapsi Sidhwa is a Pakistani writer who currently lives in Houston, U.S. She writes in English. She has authored City of Sin and Splendour: Writings on Lahore, Water: A Novel, An American Brat, Cracking India, The Bride and The Crow Eaters. She was born in a Zoroastrian family in Karachi. She attended Kinnaird College for Women in Lahore and received a B.A. She has taught at the University of Houston, Rice University, Columbia University, Mount Holyoke College and Brandeis University.
Sidhwa has received several accolades and awards such as Bunting Fellowship at Radcliffe/Harvard, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Lila Wallace-Reader\'s Digest Writer\'s Award and Premio Mondello for Foreign Authors. She was inducted in the Zoroastrian Hall of Fame and was a visiting Scholar at the Rockefeller Foundation Center, Bellagio, Italy.
