Bano Qudsia was born on 28th November in the year 1927. She is an acclaimed writer, intellectual, playwright and mystic from Pakistan recognized as one of the finest Urdu novelists and short story writers of modern times. Her novel Raja Gidh won her popularity in Urdu and Punjabi languages. She completed her school from Dharamsala in eastern India before moving to Lahore. She graduated from Kinnaird College in Lahore and completed her M.A. degree in Urdu from the Government College Lahore in 1951. She wrote many short stories, novels, television and radio plays, and stage plays. Her short stories include Baz Gasht, Amar Bail, Doosra Darwaza and Twajju ki Talib. One of her most popular writing works Raja Gidh focuses upon the symbol of a vulture, a bird of prey that feeds on dead flesh and carcasses with message that excess in leads to degeneration. Her plays include Tamasil, Hawa key Naam, Seharay and Khaleej.
