Dr. Attash Durrani was born on January 22, 1952 in Pakistan. He is popular as a linguist, scholar, terminologist, translatologist, educationist, language scientist, Language/ Knowledge Manager/ Engineer, Logician and author. He has authored over 170 books, 350 papers and 125 teaching units in the English and Urdu language. Attash Durrani did his PhD. in Urdu Terminology in 1991 from the University Oriental College, Lahore. His major contributions include development of Research and Localization Style guides, Curricula, Glossaries and other standard tools, Urdu Code Plate and Keyboard, Urdu Informatics Linguistic Aspects, Localization and Transliteration for Computers, M.T. formula and Ghost Characters Theory. He is a Curriculum and Textbook Development Specialist for Urdu, Literacy, Basic and at all the Higher Education levels and Urdu Informatics. The President of Pakistan conferred the National Civil Award: "Tamgha-i-Imtiaz" for his contributions in the fields of Literature and Urdu Informatics, on the 14th of August, 2010. His Books "Iqbal ka Insiklopedia" and "Pakistani Urdu" were widely acclaimed. He is a linguist working on Language Planning, Development, and Policy for Urdu and Pakistani languages.
