Anwar Masood was born on November 8, 1935 in Gujrat, present day Pakistan. An acclaimed writer known for his comic poetry, his works include other genres as well. He writes in Urdu, Punjabi and Persian. Anwar did his schooling from Lahore and from Public School of Gujrat when his family shifted back to Gujrat. He under graduated with a B.A. degree from Zamidara College in Gujrat and finished his Master’s degree in Persian from Oriental College Lahore in 1961. Some of his most popular poems include Anar Kali Diyan Shana, Aj Kee Pakaeay, Banyan, Juma Bazaar, Jehlam da pul, Umree and more. The multi-lingual poet’s words are popular for touching roots of traditional ethos in Punjab.
