Runa Laila is a popular Bangladeshi singer who is famous for her ghazal singing in the entire Indian sub-continent. Runa Laila received musical training under Ustad Qader/Piya Rang. She started her career by doing playback singing for Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani (before Bangladeshi independence) films. Her rise to success in Hindi cinema came with the overnight hit songs Ek Ke Bad Kar Ek and Dama Dam Mast Qalander.
She has worked with almost all the famous music directors of Bollywood like Jaidev, Kalyanji-Anandji and Bappi Lahiri. After playback singing, she also started doing independent projects which proved to be very successful. Some of her pop songs are Sadher Lau Banailo Morey and Bondhu Tin Din Tor Banite. She is the recipient of the Bangladeshi National Film Award, Indian Saigal Award and Pakistani Nigar Award, Graduate Award and Critics Award.
