Rati Agnihotri is a veteran Indian film actress who apart from acting in Hindi and Tamil cinema has also acted in Kannada and Telugu films. Rati Agnihotri made her silver screen debut at the age of 16 with the Tamil film, Pudhiya Varpukal (1979). The film catapulted Rati into the big league and made her an overnight star. Subsequently, Rati went on to do 32 films in just three years. In South Indian cinema she has worked with the likes of Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan.
Rati made her Bollywood debut in 1981 with Ek Duje Ke Liye and went on to achieve star status in Bollywood also. She did more than 43 Hindi films in ten years and these were apart from the tremendous amount of South Indian films she was doing alongside. Some of her famous Bollywood films apart from Ek Duje Ke Liye are Shaukeen (1982), Coolie (1982), Farz Aur Kanoon (1983) and Tawaif (1985).
Rati left Bollywood at the peak of her career and settled as a housewife. She returned to films after 16 years with the 2001 film, Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi. Since then she has appeared in some other films like Dev, Anyar, Majunu and An Ode to Lost Love. She has been nominated twice for the Best Actress Award at the Filmfare Awards.
