Manisha Koirala Biography of Manisha Koirala : Manisha Koirala is a Nepali actress who has made a big name in the Indian film industry. She works in Hindi and Tamil cinema and is an accomplished Bharatnatyam and Manipuri dancer. Manisha started her acting career with a Nepali film, Pheri Bhetaula (1989). A couple of years later she debuted in Bollywood with Subhash Ghai's super hit film, Saudagar and delivered an amazing performance. After this even if her movies failed to deliver at the box office, they would always fetch her critical acclaim and hence her acting prowess remained unharmed. Some of her block buster films include 1942: A Love Story, Bombay, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi, Gupt and Dil Se. She left mainstream cinema after appearing in Ram Gopal Varma's Company to go and work in parallel cinema. Apart from being a talented star, she is also an active social worker who works for promotion of Women's rights and against human trafficking. In 1999, she was appointed as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador. So far, she has been awarded 3 Filmfare Awards, 1 Star Screen Award and 1 Bengali Film Journalists' Association Award for Best Actress. In 2009 she will be seen in Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish and Mani Ratnam's Raavan.
