Since the age of two Lavanya has loved to sing. She would sometimes sing her favourite songs in a higher scale, not realising how much higher it would go. But no matter how difficult it was, she would always hit the notes correctly. Right then we knew she was gifted!" - Lavanya's mother.

So as a toddler, Lavanya started training in Carnatic Classical even before she knew how to read and write!

After being trained in Carnatic music for about twelve years, she met Padmashri Hariharan jee at a concert. She was so taken by his singing that she instantly decided that this is what she wanted to do. Hariji saw a spark in Lavanya's voice the moment he heard her sing and put her under his guruji Padmabhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khansaab's guidance.

While training under Khansaab, she started singing for jingles and tv serials. She also did ad voiceovers and tv serial dubbings.

After her graduation, while helping a friend, who was preparing for a radio jockeying audition at All India Radio, Lavanya's knowledge of music immediately caught the attention of the head of programming. He asked her to audition as well and her career as an RJ began. Being a singer herself Lavanya was thrilled to be surrounded by music 24/7. Exposed to different genres of music, Lavanya honed her versatility as a singer. She sang jingles for products such as Asian Paints, Tata Indicom, Reliance, BPL and many more, the title tracks of tv serials like Om Namah Shivaya, Geetha Rahasya, Lavanya and others. She also sang film songs for composers like Vidhyasagar (Thaayin Manikkodi, Kanden Kadhalai), Shamir Tandon (Bal Ganesh), the Colonial Cousins (Chikku Bukku).

In 2007, Lavanya got one more step closer to her dream when Hariharanji asked her to start touring with him for his shows around the world. The most thrilling moment for Lavanya came when Hariji offered to compose her debut album 'Maahi'!

Lavanya's career spans three decades, 5 continents and 12 languages. She continues to plant the seed of joy in millions of hearts with her magical voice!
