Having been born in a family where music was just as indispensable as oxygen or food, the inclination towards the arts for Joel was quite natural. Furthermore, having studied in Patha Bhavan, Kolkata for twelve years, the nurturing was just about perfect for him to enter the realm of music.

Originally trained in Western Classical guitar (Grade-8), which he believes to have paved the way for his outlook towards music and his acceptance of the diverse musical genres in the future. Though performing from a very early age, it was only after his College, that he realized his true calling. However he decided not to be confined to just guitar playing but broaden the field and in no time he was writing songs, singing, composing, arranging them and also took a keen interest into the technicalities of music production.

Counting his influences, which are as diverse as, Johann Sebastian Bach, Sting, Dream Theatre, The Beatles, John Denver, Porcupine Tree, Norah Jones, John Mayer and many more.  He believes it’s important to be influenced as we know so little but to have a signature style of one’s own.

At a very young age, he has already worked with some of the stalwarts of the music industry. Having access to a professional state of the art digital recording studio obviously helped, as he found just the right tools to exercise these means.
