Anwar Farukhabadi (AKA Anwar) is an Indian playback singer whose rise to fame came mostly due to the strong vocal resemblance he had with Mohammed Rafi. Born to an accomplished Harmonium player, Anwar also started training at an early age with Ustad Abdul Rehman Khan. He received trained at the same music academy which produced the legendary Mahendra Kapoor. After training, Anwar Farukhabadi started performing in shows and concerts.
Renowned music director, Kamal Rajasthani spotted Anwar at a musical show and gave him a chance to sing for his film, Mere Gharib Nawaz. Soon, he was asked to render Kasam Ham Apne Jaan Ki for which Rafi personally congratulated him. He rose to fame with the songs like Teri Aakhon Ki Chahat and Humse Ka Bhool Hui from Janta Hawaldar. Soon after the remix revolution started taking over and he lost his touch for vocals. He returned after some years to release his album titled, Meri Aashiqui Se Pehle. His also sang a sufi song in the 2006 flick, Kabhi Pyar Kiya the music of which was composed by Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen.
